Amanda Lawson: A tribute

A tribute to Amanda Lawson

Words don’t do justice to Amanda’s story. But we want to share her legacy with you all….

Each month, we celebrate just one of the countless fundraisers doing something extraordinary for charity on JustGiving. Sometimes we celebrate the wacky, the innovative and the outlandish. But at other times, we pause to celebrate and pay tribute to the memory of ordinary people doing extraordinary things – under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. Like Amanda Lawson.

Amanda set up her fundraising page for Cancer Research UK in August,  shortly after being diagnosed with an advanced and aggressive form of cancer.

I am very sad to write that Amanda lost her battle with cancer this month.  Just 36 years old, she leaves behind her husband and two very young daughters.  But she also leaves behind an inspiring legacy that we  want to share with you all.  Take a look at Amanda’s fundraising page and you’ll see what I mean.

Cancer is a terrible disease and one that has taken too many people too early in their lives. Many of our fundraisers sign up to events like the Race for Life to raise money to aid the fight against disease. They do marathons and multiple marathons in support of those family members.

And others set up quieter pages, in the midst of their own battles.  They are determined to raise money to fight this horrible disease. And they are determined to raise hope, not just for themselves, but for all those out there who will face similar diagnosis.

Amanda Lawson is one of those quiet heroes on JustGiving.  And for her tenacity and determination to raise money to fight cancer, she is this month’s fundraiser of the month.

We hope you’ll take a moment – please – to visit Amanda’s page, and to remember and celebrate her and all of those out there fighting extraordinary battles today.  Your support not only helps raise money in the fight against cancer. It helps to raise hope.

Having known Amanda for over 20 years I can honestly say this is no surprise that she has done so well in her fund-raising efforts. She was always successful in everything she put her mind to. I am very proud of the fact she has raised so much money. It shows what a great lady she was and how many loved her. Many people who don’t know her have donated too which I am sure Amanda would be thrilled about. Well Done Amanda. Forever in my heart, Karen x
