There’s less than two weeks to go until the Virgin London Marathon and the pile of cheerleading equipment next to JustGiving’s Head of Community, Heather, gets bigger with every visit from the postman. The JustGiving staff is going to be out in force this year to cheer on the 19,256 (and counting!) runners with JustGiving pages and we want you (or your supporters, if you’re running) to join us.
We’ll give you the aforementioned equipment to ensure you make a big enough noise and visual spectacle that your favourite fundraiser can’t fail to spot you in the crowd. We’ll also keep you hydrated (just as important for supporters if the weather is anything like last year – pictured) and provide some cool tech so you can donate to your fundraiser’s page or share it with your friends.
So why not come under the JustGiving umbrella? (Literally, if it’s raining.)
Heather and our new Content Editor, Martha, cycled all 26.2 miles of the route yesterday to pick out the choicest cheering spots so you don’t have to. For a copy of the map you can download and print out, click here or on the image below.
Mile Seven – Cutty Sark (nearest tube: Greenwich or Cutty Sark DLR)
Mile 12 – Jamaica Road (nearest tube: Bermondsey)
Mile 14 – Limehouse (nearest tube: Limehouse DLR)
Mile 15/18 – Heron Quays, next to the City & Pride pub (nearest tube: Greenwich or Heron Quays DLR)
Mile 24 and a half – Victoria Embankment (nearest tube: Temple)
Let us know you’re coming in the comments below!
And if you want to know what these spots look like (or if you’re running and want to visualise the course beforehand) check out this cool Google Maps Street View of the course courtesy of virtual tourist Keir Clarke:
