Five giving ideas for Easter

Here at JustGiving we think the Easter holidays are a great opportunity to do something for a good cause. We’ve come up with a few ideas to help you make a difference this Easter, whether you’re on the road to hitting your target for a marathon or challenge event, or just fancy doing something for your favourite charity.

1. Make afternoon tea

A hot cross bun is a tasty treat that you can take into work or school in exchange for donations. Remember the butter, commandeer the toaster, and put the kettle on. Ask people to make a donation to your cause In exchange for a delicious afternoon treat.

2. Swap your chocolate treats

If you’re not a chocolate fan (or even if you are!) ask your loved ones to forego giving you sweet treats for Easter this year, and spend the money on a donation to charity instead.

3. Host a wardrobe exchange

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure! The bank holiday is a great opportunity to go through your wardrobe and get rid of any unwanted items. Instead of giving your spoils away, ask your friends to do the same and have a clothes swap. You could even make a night of it and provide drinks and snacks. In exchange for attending, everyone makes a donation to your cause.

4. Hold an Easter egg hunt

An old favourite for Easter that also works as a great fundraising idea! Hide some Easter eggs around your house and garden and invite friends over to find them. They win some delicious chocolate, you get a donation. Simples.

5. Offer your odd-job skills

If you know someone who needs help with cleaning or odd jobs, offer to do it this weekend. Maybe their car needs washing, hedge needs trimming or kitchen needs cleaning? As a thank you for helping them out, ask for a donation to your charity.

And if you don’t fancy fundraising, remember you can make a donation to any of over 8,000 charities using JustGiving. Search for a charity to support.
