Facebook has finally begun rolling out promised changes to badges – causing headaches for users of our old JustGiving app. (Note: The new app is still working beautifully, but keep in mind it only works for certain JustGiving pages – see below.)
First off: We’re really sorry for your headaches! As Facebook goes, they don’t update developers when they make such changes – we just figure it out as they go.
Secondly: If you use our Facebook apps, here’s what to do:
> If your JustGiving page address starts with http://www.justgiving.com/—: Make sure you’ve downloaded our excellent new JustGiving Facebook application at apps.facebook.com/justgivingapp/ . It’s got lots of great new features and new ways to really engage your Facebook friends in your fundraising.
> If your JustGiving page address starts with http://original. justgiving.com/— or http://raceforlifesponsorme.org/—, the new app unfortunately won’t work for you. But you can still use Facebook for your fundraising! Just update your Facebook status (on your Facebook profile page) to tell your friends about your fundraising. Make sure you include a link to your JustGiving page, so they know where to read more and donate to you. Regular status updates as to your progress and or your training – along with that link each time – will help them remember to support you.
We’ll stay on top of this and keep you all posted of any further Facebook app changes.
In the meantime, check out our top 10 tips for fundraising on Facebook and the JustGiving guide to social media fundraising -- for plenty more ways to use JustGiving and Facebook to give your fundraising a boost.
Thanks for bearing with us!
