It’s Valentine’s Day this weekend and without wanting to get too schmaltzy, we thought it would be a good opportunity to remind those of you getting married this year (or even planning to propose on Sunday night!) that one of the ways you can fundraise on JustGiving is by asking your wedding guests to make a donation to your favourite charity instead of buying you a present.
That’s what Emily and Neil (pictured) did and they’ve already raised over £2,000 for WaterAid! As Emily puts on their JustGiving page, ‘We feel that we have been really lucky to find each other, so to address the karma balance we thought that donating to WaterAid would be a good idea.’
Let’s face it, in today’s society most couples getting married, be they young or old, have already lived together for a year or two and own more than enough kitchen appliances for one lifetime. So why not do as Emily and Neil have and use your wedding as a prime fundraising opportunity?
Or if you really need that new cutlery set, why not host your wedding list on JustGiving, putting the links to the various items on your page, but encouraging your friends and family to make a small donation before clicking on them?
To give you some ideas and get you started, you can view Emily and Neil’s page (and maybe offer them a congratulatory donation) here.
Happy Valentine’s Day (and Chinese New Year) everybody! From all the team at JustGiving.
