Not content with the mental and physical challenges that come with being an F1 world champion, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button is also an avid triathlete.
Through the Jenson Button Trust, he is hosting his first triathlon to help raise money for Help for Heroes – a charity that provides support for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and their families.
What? Where? When?
The triathlon will take place on Sunday 19th August within the grounds of the Luton Hoo grand estate, a quintessentially British manor where participants will get the chance to take on Button in a 300m swim, a 10km bike ride and a 2.5km run.
The top 50 participants will then go into a final to see who can take the podium in what looks set to be a fun but highly competitive event. Prizes will be awarded by Jenson at a post-race party with music and a barbeque.
Over to Jenson…
Here’s what Jenson has to say about the event:
“I wanted to put on something different and give competitors more of a unique experience, which, with the format and the venue, I’m confident we’ll achieve.
“It’s also a great chance for everyone taking part to team up and help raise some money for a fantastic charity in Help for Heroes. We’ve set it up so everyone can fundraise together and there will even be some amazing prizes for the top fundraisers including a VIP trip to the Monaco grand prix in 2013 for the person who raises the most money!”
