London marathon 2012 – let the fundraising begin!

London Marathon

Many of you have been waiting on tenterhooks over the last few weeks to find out if you have the golden ticket: a place in next year’s London marathon, the world’s biggest fundraising event.

Whether you’ve won a place in the ballot and are ready to start fundraising or you’re still looking for a place, we’ll be here from now until April to make sure that raising money is the easiest part of your marathon.

Over the coming months we’ll be making sure you get all the trusty tips we’ve built up since we first helped marathoners like you fundraise 11 years ago, so make sure you check back regularly.

We’ve also been working hard to develop loads of brand new fundraising tools, which will make your fundraising efforts quicker, easier and more effective. This year, for the first time, you can fundraise directly through our Facebook app, so your sponsors donate without leaving Facebook.

Not only that, but with JustTextGiving by Vodafone, the UK’s first 100% free text donation service, your sponsors can text a donation straight to your page.

And if you missed out on a ballot place – don’t worry, all’s not lost! You can still run if you land yourself a charity place. Over the next few months, we’ll be bringing you regular guest posts from charities which have places to spare, so make sure you check back every couple of weeks.

Or maybe you’re secretly relieved you didn’t get a marathon place?! If you still have the fundraising bug, why not try another way of raising money?  Is there a different personal challenge you’re ready to tackle? Or are you celebrating a birthday soon? If you’re still not sure who to fundraise for, you can use our search tools to find a cause close to your heart.

However you choose to fundraise, we’ll help you raise as much as you can for your charity – so good luck!

My father passed away in September 2011. He had lung cancer, but after having treatment in Northampton, he remained under care of the Macmillan nurses and staff at Milton Keynes.
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. But we don’t have to go through it alone. The Macmillan team is here for support every step of the way.1 in 3 people are affected by cancer and that Is why the few hundred pounds that I am collecting is going to Macmillan
