The Paralympics are in full swing and we’re once again glued to the TV, watching the incredible achievements of Great British athletes. And it seems we’re not the only ones – we’ve identified some fantastic fundraisers who are lending their support to the games.
Claire Lomas – You may remember Claire as the first person to complete a marathon in a bionic ReWalk suit, raising £170,000 for charity earlier this year. Claire was recognised for this incredible effort when she was asked to light the Paralympic flame as it set out on its torch relay to Stratford. She’s now getting set for her next bionic challenge – cycling from London to Paris, fundraising once more for Spinal Research. Support Claire in her new challenge
Ben Marsh - Ben has developed a tool for people to find tickets for the Paralympics, 2012ticketchecker.com. He’s asking fans of the service to donate to the British Paralympic Association (BPA) to support future athletes. Donate to Ben’s ticket checker page
Stacey Wilson-Howell – Inspired by meeting members of the ParalympicsGB team in 2011, Stacey Wilson-Howell decided to raise money for the BPA by completing an epic swim – 500,000m over a year. To date, she’s raised more than £4,500 and swum close to 300,000 meters. Sponsor Stacey for her swimming challenge
EDF employees - EDF Energy is an official Paralympics sponsor and staff were keen to do something to support the athletes in their preparation for the games. So far they have raised more than £200,000 for the BPA, and they’ve taken their fundraising to the extreme – some staff even took part in a challenge which involved them surviving in the Swedish wilderness for eight days.
