Today’s video from the JustTextGiving Video Competition is from Dogs Trust, the first charity to step up and produce a video for the competition! With puppies being very popular on YouTube, they decided to have some fun with the dogs at the shelter and film this great little video to help them fundraise using JustTextGiving.
The video with the most views by 23rd August will win a £500 donation, so help Dogs Trust by simply watching the video below, and share it with your friends, family, fans and followers. We caught up with Dogs Trust’s lovely Digital Marketing Officer, Laurier Nicas, to tell us about the importance of a digital presence for charities, and a bit about how fun the video was to produce!
Our Digital team works within our Marketing department and we’re responsible for the presence of Dogs Trust online. This involves maintaining our websites, managing our social networks, overseeing our e-mail marketing, creating marketing materials (design and photo/video/audio media), etc. Basically, if you see it online— it’s probably us!
My colleague and I were visiting a centre to host a training session and we thought we’d take the Flip camera along. We usually think that puppies are a great inspiration for everything, really!
Our original idea was to spell out our text code (GIVE01) in treats on the ground and film the puppies letting loose on it. It turns out that it is very hard to keep puppies away from treats— who knew?! What you see in the video was the only take we got!
The hardest part was sifting through all the footage (though I cannot honestly say that watching hours of happy pooches was tough). To actually edit the video, create the animation, and source the music only took a couple of hours. Easy peasy!
We have just started to promote the video on Facebook and Twitter and will be making sure to push it everywhere we can online for the next few weeks. It was such a great way for us to say thank you to those who have already donated and also expose new supporters to the JustTextGiving option.
There is no reason why other fundraisers or charities shouldn’t be doing this! It was incredibly easy to enter and it’s always worth a shot. We could all use £500 for our respective charities, so jump in folks. Plus, we love a bit of friendly competition!
