***Update: 29/06/2010***
OK, we know when we’ve been beaten. It could have gone the other way, but in the end we couldn’t get enough teams together to make this Thursday’s planned five-a-side tournament a success. Fair enough, you’ve all snuck a few hours here and there already to watch your favourite teams in action, and understandably interest has waned now that England are out of the World Cup.
However, would you be interested in a regular charity and fundraiser five-a-side league once the football season starts up again? Let us know in the comments below.

Dig out your shin pads and stretch your hamstrings – the JustGiving World Cup five-a-side tournament is here!
It’s a chance to burn off a few of those pints that have kept you interested in group games involving countries you can’t point out on a map.
We’ve got a tempting double whammy for you. Not only is the tournament on a weekday so might help you blag an afternoon out of the office, we’ve also chosen a day when there are no World Cup matches to miss.
Before you round up your all star team, here are the details you need to know:
Who?
There will be eight teams battling it out for glory. We are looking for teams from three charities, as well as teams made up from our top fundraisers and business partners. We’ll also be putting forward a JustGiving team (be afraid).
You’ll need a team of seven players – five starters plus two subs if possible (although if you can’t manage two subs, don’t worry).
If you can’t make it for the afternoon excitement, we’d love to see you after the blood, sweat and tears for some evening drinks as below.
When?
Thursday 1st July. The tournament kicks off at 12pm and wraps up at 5pm.
The winning team and the team which raises the most for charity will then be presented with some fabulous silverware. Then we can enjoy some well-earned drinks, put our competitive streaks aside and mingle.
Where?
Kennington Park five-a-side pitch in south London. The closest tube station is Oval.
When the final whistle has blown, we’ll be heading off to The Fentiman Arms, where the lovely staff have reserved us an area for an informal presentation ceremony and victory/consolation drinks.
How?
Entry is free, but you’ll need to set up a team JustGiving page for a charity of your choice. If you’d like to enter a charity team, or enter as a fundraiser, send an email to alex@justgiving.com
Bring it on!
